THE BIG IDEA:

The Extensible Information Systems (EIS) organization acknowledges the paradigm shift in the relationship between traditional Information Technology (IT) service organizations and the Businesses they support.  In the past, due to the limited capabilities of technology, IT could offer only limited support for the important business processes.

Today, technology far exceeds the business’ ability to successfully integrate it into the business processes.  Further, a major psychological shift has occurred because only the most experienced technical expert can hope to understand the complexity of a typical IT solution which is far beyond the business manager’s ability to conceptualize.   Business processes and perhaps the entire business are virtualized into ethereal black boxes that sometimes “create more heat than light”.

So, the BIG IDEA is to provide the business and the IT service organization with a “lingua franca” or common language in order to increase the understanding between the two vastly different organizations.   EIS has researched, developed, and successfully implemented a new thing: The Business View.

On the subsequent pages, we attempt to more fully explain what the Business View is, how it is created, who is responsible, and how it should be used.
